Giving at St Nics'

One of the ways in which we put St Nics' vision into practice is to give at least 10% of our income to Christian charitable organisations. We encourage individuals to similarly give to the work of the local church. We are completely self-funded and rely on regular giving by members and visitors for our day-to-day ministry expenses. The Bible teaches that giving should be generous, according to one’s ability, regular and sacrificial.

How to give to the work of the Church

  • Through the weekly envelope system
  • By setting up electronic transfers directly through your bank
  • By donating to the following church funds:
    • St Nicolas’ Scripture in Government Schools Foundation
    • St Nicolas’ National Trust Building Fund

Organisations that St Nics' has supported over the years

Anglicare Chaplains Ministry

ANGLICARE’s team of dedicated prison chaplains minister in the most challenging environments throughout Sydney and Wollongong; prisons, juvenile justice centres, hospitals and mental health facilities. Chaplains reach out to the lost, outcast and neglected, sharing Christ’s compassion and grace with them. It’s a difficult ministry, and largely unseen by the community. But the support they give to those affected by tragedy, illness or the consequences of poor judgement is immeasurable; they daily demonstrate the strength that comes from an unswerving faith in God.

TEAR Australia – Christian Action with the World’s Poor

St Nics' participates with TEAR each Christmas by running a four week campaign using their ‘Arguably the World’s Most Useful Gift Catalogue’. TEAR Australia is a movement of Christians in Australia responding to the needs of poor communities around the world. Their motivation comes from their belief that God loves all people, and that Christ offers them the opportunity of a new life. Rather than establish their own relief and development projects, they support the initiatives of other Christian groups, including churches, relief and development agencies and community-based organisations, which are working with the poor in their communities. TEAR seek to build effective relationships with these partners, grounded in mutual respect, trust and accountability.

The Bible League – Bibles for the Persecuted

St Nics' participates with the Bible League each year with a three week campaign of focusing on persecuted Christians, prayer and giving. God has called the Bible League to provide His Word around the world and bring people into relationship with Christ and His Church. They provide Scriptures to the right people, in the right language, in the right way, at the right cost, with the right partners and for the right results.
